Blackjack Mistakes ?C If you Want to Win Big Get the Right Mindset

Author: Sacha Tarkovsky

If you want to win at blackjack, you need the right psychology and many players neglect its importance and lose, however get the right mindset and you can win.

These blackjack mistakes are easy to avoid and if you do your chances of success will increase dramatically.

1. Staying disciplined

Card counting can help you gain an edge over the casino and emerge with big profits but it's a longer term strategy and short term results can be random.

However many players believe that they can win at blackjack quickly however card counting is very long term.

You need to have bankroll to sustain you over hundreds or even thousands of hours of losing play.

Many players get frustrated if they lose, discipline breaks down and they chase their loses and of course lose.

If you don't take a longer term view and have adequate bankroll you will lose.

YOUR edge is small and it takes a long time to come out in your favor, although it will if you give it time.

2. The Fear of Going Bust

The fear of going bust (going over 21) is a common error made by blackjack players.

Many players find it hard to draw an additional card even though it is the right play in terms of odds.
The fear of going bust prevents them even though they know it's the wrong play. Why do they do this?

For example, standing on 16 when you should take a hit stops may stop a player going bust.

True but on the other side:

The dealer has to stand on 17 and above he has no choice, the player therefore cannot win unless the dealer goes bust.

Losing by busting is psychologically hard and they actually prefer losing to the dealer.

If you hit and bust psychologically you are wrong and many players think it makes them look stupid
If you stand and lose, you can simply say the dealer was lucky.

You have no responsibility and feel better.

Here players simply fail to focus on the probabilities of winning and losing a hand and take an easy route.
Go with the logical play and the odds, not the easy play, simply to make you feel better.

3. The gamblers Fallacy

Many players increase bets after a loss and reduce it after a win.

This is called "the gambler's fallacy," the idea is that if you lose a hand, the odds go up that you will win the next hand. Other players do the reverse, increasing bets after a win and decreasing them after a loss.

To win at blackjack you need to increase bet size when the cards are right not be influenced by what you have won or lost in previous hands. Play the odds on each individual hand in relation to the cards you
have.

Why do players make these mistakes?

They know what they should do to win at blackjack but they don't because their emotions get in the way.
Whenever money is on the line emotions come into play, however it is important to keep them to one side and focus on the facts and the odds.

Remain disciplined and stick to your plan.

If you avoid the above blackjack mistakes and stay focused chances are you will win.

Let your emotions come into play and you will lose.

If you are playing blackjack focus on the long term picture and realize that card counting takes time to work and short term results vary, if you do you are on the road to some big profits.
